Our life’s purpose is far greater than our personal desires, ambitions and fulfilment

“For through him were all things created in Heaven and on Earth, visible and invisible, whether they are thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created through him, and for him”—Colossians 1:16 (The Christian Bible).

“Unless you assume a GOD, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless”—Bertrand Russell, atheist.

GOD is the sole reason why everything above and below the Earth, visible and invisible exists. Everything came into being because of Him. Generally speaking, the purpose of life is not all about you, or us; our respective purposes for living lies far beyond us and our own personal comfort and fulfilment; most probably, that’s why we don’t always experience life the way we would like to.

Most of us don’t understand that life is not as perfect as we would like it to be because we are not living for ourselves; we are part of a universal scheme that GOD has made humanity and each human being to be a part of; a scheme whose plan outlasts our short earthly life.

The purpose of life has bewildered people since the earliest times on Earth

The purpose of life is something that has made mankind think over and over without many people ever coming to a precise conclusion; not too many people have been able to fathom it.

Even though we always think about what we want to be and what we would like to do with our respective lives, the purpose of life is far greater than ourselves, our families, our careers, ambitions and wildest dreams.

Apart from the Christian Bible, many scriptures and texts make us understand that the purpose of living is beyond our goals, ambitions, dream and future: the goal of living is spiritual and directed by almighty GOD.

It is quite unfortunate that in the modern era, in which materialism holds sway, many people try to use GOD for their own self-actualization.

The purpose of life is to let GOD use us for His own purposes

We were made for GOD’s purposes; not the other way round. We are not supposed to use GOD for our own purposes; if we do, then we are doomed to fail in the pursuit of our destinies.

There is nothing bad in chasing our set goals and dreams, and pursuing them until we actualize them: there is nothing bad with achieving great success; however, achieving success, and fulfilling one’s GOD-given purpose are two different things.

Achieving personal success if quite different from achieving the things GOD created us to achieve.

It is possible to hit certain targets and achieve personal success, but still miss the reason/purpose why we were sent down to this world from the higher part of creation where GOD’s will rules supremely without interference from the type of corruption that is so prevalent in our world today.

So how can we find the purpose of our respective lives?

Fortunately, instead of guessing what our respective purposes are, we can consult what GOD has revealed about life in His scriptures (in his words), and obey and practice it—many of the holy books or scriptures would help!

Knowing fully well that not everyone can communicate with GOD spiritually, and on the same level, the best platform for everyone to discover GOD’s purpose for their life is to consult His word—His book.

“But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and on His law does he meditate day and night; And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth fruit in his season; its leaf does not wither; and whatsoever he does shall prosper”—Psalms 1:1–2 (The Christian Bible).

If you can pick interest in GOD’s words, meditate on them regularly, obey and honestly practice them, then you will find GOD’s purpose for your life, and prosper.

So there you have it: no matter what we do in life, side by side with our desires and pursuits we have to find out what GOD’s words say about life in general, and practice them. If we do so with a sense of honesty and love, and live by it, then our true purpose will be revealed to us—we will be exposed to it.

The easiest way to find out the purpose a new invention is to consult the creator of the invention; or if the creator is difficult to access, then consult the creator’s manual or guide for the invention.

The same applies to GOD; consult and talk to Him through His word on a daily basis—read His everlasting inspiring words every day, and you will find your life’s purpose and prosper if you do so with your heart and soul.

GOD has not left us completely in the dark when it comes to finding out what our respective purposes are

GOD has clearly revealed His laws, commandments, and general purpose of life on Earth in His scriptures—His manual; it would be good for us to harmonize them with our own intentions, goals, dreams and ambitions.

GOD’s manual explains the beginning of life, how life works, what we should do in order to avoid repercussions, and what we should expect when we take certain actions, either good or bad.

GOD is not only the starting point of all forms of life—seen and unseen—He is also the source of our continuous existence which he has planned to last forever. In order to discover your life’s purpose, you have to turn to GOD’s word, or get it from someone who can give it to you in the truest form possible.

The world’s wisdom, which is heavily based on materialism, cannot reveal your life’s purpose to you; it is only GOD’s words the can reveal it to you. His word fits into a much larger universal purpose which he has designed to last for all eternity.
